The Honua Kai is located right on the northern stretch of Ka’anapali Beach, one of Maui’s very best beaches. It’s also a less crowded beach than the southern stretch of Ka’anapali Beach as there are less total hotels in the area. The beach has very gentle surf and is usually very calm, making it great for scuba diving, snorkeling, or just relaxing on a float.

Ka’anapali Beach is famous for having gentle waves, a long and wide stretch of sandy beach, and for the iconic Pu'u Keka'a (Black Rock) where thrill seekers can cliff jump. In the 18th century, Chief Kahekili, a famous Maui chief, is known for having demonstrated his bravery by jumping from the highest point at Black Rock. He was notably one King Kamehameha's biggest rivals.

The resort features one of the coolest pool complexes anywhere on Maui and it is massive! With over 3 acres dedicated just to the pool network its so easy to end up spending the entire day enjoying the pool. There are kids areas and adult areas, as well as swim throughs, a water slide, and several jacuzzis for an evening soak. You can also receive poolside service from a favorite on site restaurant that is the next thing to love about the Honua Kai.

3. Duke's Beach House and Restaurant
Located oceanfront at the Honua Kai along the Kaa’anpali Boardwalk is Duke’s. Name after the legendary Duke Kahanmoku, the restaurant serves delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant also features a nice outdoor bar area and regularly features live music for entertainment in the evenings.
If your staying at the Honua Kai, you’ll naturally findyourself at Duke’s more than once. Of course, there are many other great restaurants nearby in Ka’anapali and great restaurants nearby in Kapalua, but there’s something nice about not leaving the resort to have dinner.
4. Breathtaking Ocean Views From Many Villas
Many of the units at the Honua Kai Resort and Spa feature incredible views, especially the units located on the upper floors of one of the two, 10 story buildings. The front rows of each building offer the most stunning views, but many units throughout the resort will also feature some very nice views to enjoy.
