The Best Yoga Studios on Maui: Find Your Flow on the Valley Isle
Beyond the beautiful scenery and year-round near-perfect weather, Maui has a robust wellness community with many talented Yoga teachers and great studios around the island. There is something about Maui that encourages one to be active and pursue a healthy lifestyle through practices like Yoga.
Many visitors and residents, including myself, have discovered the joys of practicing Yoga for its numerous physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. We are fortunate to have so many great Yoga studios on Maui, and finding the right fit for you can make the practice more accessible and enjoyable.
From the calm, rural Upcountry vibes of Makawao and Haiku to the shores of South Kihei and Kapalua, there's a great place to practice Yoga in every area of Maui.
In this blog, I'm going to cover some of Maui's finest yoga studios, starting with the studio where I personally practice as often as I can, Wisdom Flow Yoga, located in Makawao.
Wisdom Flow Yoga – Makawao
An inviting and serene Upcountry Maui yoga studio, Wisdom Flow Yoga, offers a Yoga experience that is well beyond just stretching and practicing poses. Wisdom Flow is about mindful movement that unites philosophy with physical alignment, making us better humans who can positively impact our local communities.
Founded by a truly gifted teacher, Jennifer Lynn, this studio offers a variety of classes throughout the day in two seperate studios in the same building at 95 Makawao Ave in Makawao. However, the main event for me is the daily 90-minute Wisdom Flow Vinyasa class at 8:30 am.
Iyengar Yoga is also offered throughout the week at 9 am, along with various workout classes. Several evenings a week, there is a Hip and Heart Opener class at 5 pm that is a slower, grounding, deep stretch class. Wisdom Flow offers a wide variety of classes, events, teacher trainings, and encourages everyone to explore their practice in different ways.
Classes rest in a soft, cozy, wooden-floored, brightly lit studio filled with vibrant murals, fresh air, and the true essence of Makawao. The energy is warm and inviting throughout. Whether you're stepping into your first class or have decades of experience, you'll feel at home.
What I love: I say, come for the flow and stay for the wisdom. Jennifer brings a dynamic breadth of experience and wisdom that makes the practice challenging, rewarding, and uplifting. The community vibe, alignment-based instruction, and peaceful location also come together to make this my top pick for yoga studios on Maui.
The Best Things To Do on Maui By Area
Maui Yoga Path – Kihei
Maui Yoga Path is the best choice for people who dream of experiencing yoga on the beach while listening to the waves, as it is located at the Mana Kai Resort in Kihei. This beachfront studio even offers daily morning classes, allowing you to practice yoga with the ocean’s waves nearby.
All lessons in this school are based on Iyengar Yoga traditions, where the primary aspects taught are form, safety, and healing, among others. The class adopts a gentler pace—this is ideal for seniors, students recovering from an injury, or anyone looking to fine-tune their posture and breath control.
Each class is conducted by veteran instructor Deni Roman, who has extensive experience. She is exceptionally calm and grounded, and her demeanor helps create a safe and holistic environment throughout.
The classes take place on a raised wooden deck facing the ocean, at times during sunset, incorporating the amazing landscape into the yoga experience.
What I love: It is ideal for gentle movement and deep stretching, and it has one of the most scenic oceanfront views on the island.
Blue Mango Yoga – HaĘ»ikĹ«
If you're looking for a tranquil getaway in Maui's lush jungles, Blue Mango Yoga in Haʻiku offers a warm and soulful yoga experience. The boutique-style studio is surrounded by tropical plants and has a calming energy that attracts both visitors and locals.
Yoga classes at Blue Mango emphasize Restorative and Yin Yoga, breathwork, yoga nidra, meditation, and occasional sound healing sessions. You will be welcomed here if you want to unplug, reconnect, and indulge in a serene and gentle environment.
The instructors tend to be gentle and intuitive when teaching, and breath awareness and guided relaxation are included in every session. At Blue Mango, you will not find any fitness-oriented power flows. This studio is all about calm, stillness, healing, and presence.
In particular, for clients dealing with trauma or injury, they offer private classes and small group workshops for additional support.
What I love: The intimate setting, heart-centered teaching, and ideal environment for deep inner work and spiritual rest.
Maui Yoga Shala – PaĘ»ia
A block from PaĘ»ia’s bustling main road, Maui Yoga Shala blends movement, music, and the Maui hippie vibe. It’s a centerpiece of the island’s yoga community and offers everything from traditional asana classes to more unconventional offerings like ecstatic dance, kundalini yoga, and even aerial yoga.
The studio space itself is eclectic and filled with character, featuring wooden flooring, a refreshing breeze, vibrant colors, and high ceilings—all of which make this space one of a kind.
The international faculty guarantees diversity, meaning the schedule is constantly changing and never stagnant. If you are thinking about taking your practice up a notch, Maui Yoga Shala also offers teacher training sessions throughout the year.
Most classes can be easily accessed from the North Shore, and if you’re just sightseeing, taking up a class here is a perfect way to experience Maui's culture and artistic vibes.
What I love: Cultural diversity, community events, and a vibrant energy that matches the spirit of Paʻia.
Yoga at Montage Spa – Kapalua
The Kapalua Bay Montage Residences is a five-star resort with a full spa and yoga services in Kapalua. It even offers yoga classes on the lawn, where participants can take deep breaths while practicing yoga poses and enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean.
Wellness rejuvenation classes offered here focus on gentle flows, guided meditations, and Hatha postures. You can book a private guided wellness session or join any scheduled class.
The Montage Spa personal experience is quiet, elevated, and indulgent. It enhances the pampering of spa treatments and services, making it perfect for vacationers or those celebrating a special occasion.
You can spend the day on the island unwinding after attending a yoga class, having a massage, or having a facial.
What I love: The upscale setting, personalized attention, and tranquil surroundings have some of the best views of Maui’s west side.
Madre Maui – Napili
Nestled in the green hills of Napili is Madre Maui, a space honoring the divine feminine. While all are welcome, the studio pays special attention to women’s healing and intuitive movement. It's more than just yoga: it combines ceremony, connection, and soul work, especially for expecting mothers.
Classes focused on slow flow, womb wellness, breathwork, and community healing are available. Workshops often include cacao ceremonies, moon cycles, women’s circles, nurturing ancient practices, and modern rhythms.
Madre Maui is soft, safe, and spiritually charged. This sacred space allows one to meet oneself, especially while navigating life's transitions, enduring burnout, or simply desiring deeper support.
Maui Healing Retreat – Kula
With its location in the beautiful upcountry of Maui, the Maui Healing Retreat looks more like a wellness center than a yoga studio. That is precisely what sets the studio apart. It offers deeply restorative, personalized, and intimate yoga sessions that stand out.
This retreat center in Kula caters to all your needs—from private yoga classes and couples retreats to detox immersions and spiritual enrichment—while offering a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
Apart from yoga, the retreat offers a range of holistic therapies, including massage, energy healing, Ayurvedic treatments, and nutritional consultations. For those who want a hands-on experience, we offer personalized retreats tailored to your unique specifications.
What I love: Quiet upcountry setting, one-on-one attention, and full-spectrum healing offerings.
How to Choose the Right Maui Yoga Studio for You
When selecting where to unroll your mat on Maui, consider a couple of factors. Let's begin with your location—if you're staying in Kihei, try out Maui Yoga Path. If you're on the North Shore, Maui Yoga Shala or Blue Mango could also work perfectly. To me, Wisdom Flow is worth the drive from anywhere on Maui, even if it's just to experience the practice once.
This list is by no means exhaustive. There are several hot Yoga studios on Maui as well, and Mangala Yoga in Makawao also deserves mention. Each studio has its unique atmosphere, so there is no wrong answer as to where to practice. Try as many as you want, but if you are on the island for a couple of days or weeks, try a few and see what works for you.
Namaste
I came to my Yoga practice with the desire to heal injuries and improve my postural alignment, but quickly discovered that yoga offers not only those benefits, but also larger spiritual benefits and holistic self-improvement. Practicing regularly is not always easy, but it's always worth it.
The Wisdom Flow Yoga studio is in touch with the island’s serenity while offering ‘luxury’ relaxation services at Montage – the yoga scene in Maui is full of surprises. Even though each studio has something distinctive to offer, the warmth they extend comes from spending time with passionate people intensely devoted to yoga.
So open your mat, inhale, and prepare for Maui’s stunning yoga experience.
