Maui real estate buyers also discover many newer condo developments in Lahaina. For instance, D. R. Horton completed many of the Opukea condominium units at 1300 Limahana Place in 2008. Located conveniently adjacent to Route 30, these lovely two and three-bedroom condos supply open floor plans and generously-sized kitchens.

The pet-friendly Opukea community maintains a swimming pool. It lies within convenient commuting distance to West Maui beaches, shops, and restaurants.

More recently, the same developer finished the construction of the Ho'onanea townhome condominium community at 15 East Kuu Aku Lane in Lahaina. The 100 pet-friendly units offer spacious floor plans of 1400 square feet (or more). These two and three-bedroom townhomes sit within walking distance of Pacific Ocean beaches and nearby community parks. Although units here reach the resale marketplace only rarely, these Ho'onanea townhomes inspire strong interest.

Condotel Opportunities at Lahaina Shores and Aina Nalu

Maui real estate buyers should consult Maui County zoning and condo association rules to determine the rental possibilities for Lahaina condos for sale. A variety of choices occur within the local marketplace.

For example, Aina Nalu is a strong complex with an excellent return on the vacation rental marketplace. The development reportedly made some of the condos in Kahoma Village available to participants in the state's innovative residential workforce lottery program.

In an effort to supply households meeting specific income guidelines with more affordable housing, this initiative used a lottery-style system to furnish qualified prospective buyers with access to new homes. Properties sold through the program require buyers to maintain at least 10 years of owner occupancy and to participate upon resale in sharing a portion of any appreciation benefits with Maui County.
